In a Tivo World (DVR world, I guess)

I have 30 or so shows that I have in my 3 DVR queues. From Poker to the occasional news program that I want to peruse. The problem with living in a Tivo world is that you get used to things revolving around your schedule. It has gotten to the point where we are rarely "on time" for even Penguin or Steeler games, if we have to put the baby to bed, just pause it and pick it up where you left off. Advantage: No pesky commercials except for the "5 Dollar Footlong" commercials, Hannah loves it when they dance and sing, and it's a catchy tune. So long story short, don't tell me who sucked on Idol, or who got voted out on Survivor, I'll find out over the weekend.

Toddler Perspective

In order to not waste time in the car, I ask my little girl questions, now mind you she is 22 months old. The questions are usually, How was your day? {Good} What do you want to eat when we get home? {Bnana} What do the frogs say? {Ribbet, Ribbet} What do the kitties say? {Meow, Meow} What does the Horses say? {Ride, Ride, Ride (a topic for another entry)} What does Mommy and Daddy say? (I Love You}

With a tear welling up in my eye, I think to myself we must be doing something right.

Don't Just Stand There.........

One of the best innovations that has come about in the past 10 years is satellite radio. I am very fearful that this industry that seems to be in serious financial peril due to the current state of the economy will suddenly not be available with no forward notice.

Here are my presets
1. Channel 39-Backspin, the best of Old School rap from the Sugar Hill Gang to the late Notorious BIG
2. Channel 9-90's on 9, didn't get turned on to this until the merge of Sirius and XM, but this station takes me back to my Delta Chi party days over and over
3. Channel 8-Big 80's, what a station! takes me back to my childhood
4. Channel 12-The Pulse, 90's and Today, this station has become a space filler, not a fan of today's pop, and it seems to be on everytime I surf through
5. Channel 15-Classic Rewind, from Eddie Money to Journey, all of the "new era of Classic Rock"
6. Channel 19-Boneyard, Metallica, Ozzy, Black Sabbath and even Thin Lizzy
7. Channel 24- Lithium, as you can tell by the station title...90's alternative, from Nirvana to Foo Fighters and even some old Tool sprinkled in, very nice
8. Channel 2-The Blend, your typical soft rock station from Michael McDonald, Joe Jackson and Simply Red, very nice
9. Channel 61-Prime Country, when I need my Garth Brooks or Alabama fix, Prime Country is it
10. Channel 23-Hair Nation, quickly becoming a favorite, all of the 80's Hair bands, including Whitesnake, Great White and Crue

Now is the time to jump into Satellite radio, receivers are cheap and they are giving subscriptions away, so Just Don't Stand there, Bust A Move!!

Dance Party USA

Anybody remember Dance Party USA? Pretty sure it aired on the USA network and was basically the cheap ripoff yuppy white '80's version of Soul Train. I feel like that is happening almost everyday in my office. Little Red Corvette anyone?

Hannah Speaks Spanish........

My daughter is not quite 22 months old, I was cooking dinner as I am to do somedays, well all days. I feel a little tug on my shirt and hear Ariba!! Ariba!! Well, i'm expecting her to take off and leave behind a cloud of Mexican desert dust behind because the only Ariba I ever heard came from the Looney Tunes standard, Speedy Gonzales. But she doesn't take off in an attempt to avoid Sylvester, she is still staring at her dadda with a puzzled look on her face wondering why I haven't taken action on her rather vehement request. I look to my beloved wife, shrug my shoulders and ask what Ariba means, well according to Dora and Diego, Ariba means UP and she apparently wanted taken off her feet, and here is dumb ole dad, not knowing even apparently the most elementary of spanish words, so when your young son or daughter is speaking "that language that only she understands" don't be so sure, she may be speaking the language of our friends South of the Border, and when you realize it, you will feel just as dumb as I do. Altogether Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro, Cinco........now clap!!!

T.O. in Buffalo

LOL!! Does anyone think T.O. could find Buffalo, NY on a map. I love Buffalo, and I know the type of people from BuffNY, and I'm pretty sure that they are not going to take well to this Me Always, Team never kind of guy. I am wondering what the Buffalo legends like Jim Kelly, Thurman, Andre Reed, Cornelius Bennett and Darryl Talley think of this. All I know is that Trent Edwards better invest in some heavy duty earplugs, because the first time that he decides to dump the ball in the flat to Marshawn Lynch, his QB will be skewered on the sideline just like Garcia, McNabb and Romo have been before him. AND..........$6.5M??? You crazy Buffalo? That's atleast 25% of your yearly GDP!!!

Religion is DEED

As I prepare for my initiation into the Catholic Church on April 10th, I read today on yahoo that religion in this country is dwindling. I find it pretty narcissistic, but look around, it's the norm these days.
So I guess I'm a non-conformist, who knew! Anyway, my spiritual journey has been very enlightening, and I wouldn't change my decision for the world, no matter how many people think I'm stoopid.
